See and Spell is a genius gift item. It helps children learn to spell words using not only their hands but visual senses.

I bought this for my son, 5 years old. He loves the game. This is helping him learn 3 letter words. He does need a little help to figure them out.

My 4 year old son loves Zingo so I bought What's Gnu for him in hopes that he will enjoy it as well. So far he does and he's learning how to spell 3 letter words at the same time. I think Think Fun games are great and plan to buy others from this company.

Not As Good As Zingo, But Still Worth Getting

I got this game because my son has done so well with Zingo. This is harder for a child who is reading at a basic level so we modified the game rules. I think it will be better once he is a more accomplished reader.

Making Words

This game was hard for my 5 1/2 yr old grandson so I helped him choose the correct card and letters, then let him decide where the letters should go. The game has endless possibilities. I taught reading for many years, and I am impressed.

I am a Title 1 reading teacher and this game was recommended to me by another teacher. I have used it with first and second grade students and I have found it to be a good way to practice basic phonics skills.

I purchased What's Gnu as a gift for my niece (5) based on a request from her mother. (My niece's older sister, who is 7, plays/played this game in school and loved it.) In fact, when the 5 year old opened the gift, the 7 year old started saying, "Mommy, mommy! Look what she got! What's GNU!" and was obviously very excited. Her mother had to remind her that it was her little sister's game. So, apparently, it's a good game for the 5-7 age group who are just learning to spell and write. I plan to buy one for my daughter in a year or two.

I use several sets of this game in my first grade class, requiring the children to write the words they make, both real and nonsense. The children choose the activity outside of learning center time, as well. They love it.

The game was interesting, but is not really set up for multi-level play. We wanted a game our three children could play together, but it really only works with children on the same reading level. We made up our own rules, and the kids enjoyed it somewhat, but it was not the hit I expected.

Fun Family Game
Posted 11/9/2006 by Jennifer Bittner

Rating:

We played this game as a family (Mom, Dad, 16 year old and 6 year old), and we had a lot of fun. The 6 year old was a little bit frustrated by it, but sometimes she even found a word we missed and then she was very proud. We had a lot of laughs and especially enjoyed making sentences with the words we had made at the end of the game.
