Rating:

Excellent! However, the projected images are too dim. They are only effective in a very darkened room.

Bringing home the stars
Posted 8/7/2008 by Larry M

Rating:

I was all set to buy some glow-in-the-dark stars to paste on the bedroom ceiling when a friend suggested I see if there's a more high-tech alternative. I did a Google search and found the HomeStar - and am I glad I did. For someone that always liked looking at the stars, this little machine is like a dream come true - especially on cloudy nights when you can't just go outside. The Milky Way is the star of the show and the shooting star is very a nice addition. I started out projecting it on the ceiling, but I've come to prefer shining it on a wall instead, since you can sit in a chair and watch it head on, rather than lying on your back or craning your neck and looking up. If you project it in a small to mid-sized room, it will fill the entire wall, giving you the illusion that the wall is open to the stars. Very cool, and incredibly relaxing. A little more Google searching uncovered the fact that this little machine (it's about the size of a grapefruit) was designed by the same Japanese guy who designed & built the largest and most sophisticated planetarium in the world. This is his way of bringing planetariums to the masses - it's a work of art and genius and I never dreamed such a thing existed. I give it the highest possible recommendation.

My rating of Homestar

Rating:

Product is good as promised. However, you should not expect so much from the technology as it is a simple projection of light on the ceiling
