Soloar System Mobile review
Posted 10/20/2008 by Kathy Schaeffer - EDUCATOR

Rating:

Setting: Other

I love the soloar system and the children love it also. I am disappointed in the fact that the sun is not as bright as what the picture shows. Alsothe planets don't glow once the lights were off. Those two down falls of the product are disappointing to me. I know Pluto is not a planet but it still would have been nice to get the Pluto to add to the rest.

I bought this for my 4 year old grandson who loves anything about the solar system since he saw an Imax show about it. He was absolutely thrilled with this product. It was not too big but not too small. It does exactly what I expected it to do.

I recently purchased this mobile for my 5 year old son who is all about space. The remote is a big hit. The sound of the motor isn't bothersom. I like the fact that it turns off automatically after 20 minutes. For anyone inspired by earth and beyond, this is great gift.

This solar system is a great addition to my sons space themed room as a decoration. It doesn't light up very well, and is noisy when it is on. The kids love to turn it on and off at night. They like the pointer to light up the planets. Overall, it's okay.

I installed it over my sons bed and he absolutely loves it. He likes to shoot "comets" through the solar system with the light from the remote control. My only real complaint is that it is a bit loud, but not overwhelmingly so.

I wish the motor that rotates the mobile was completely quiet. They should be able the change the gear design to reduce the noise produced as it rotates. I also felt the sun would be brighter. We have the Uncle Milton "Moon in My Room" light as well and the light seems brighter.

I ordered this for my grandson who was turning six. He is very into the solar system right now and I thought that it would be perfect. I couldn't be happier! It was his favorite gift! It only took a few minutes to assemble and the mounting to the ceiling was easy. It is even neater than I expected it to be. He has been playing with it all day. He loves the remote control and the fact that it is also a laser pointer is really great! I highly recommend this product to everyone!

Great Idea, Quality Lacking
Posted 6/18/2008 by Kimberly Strackman

Rating:

This is the third one of these that I have purchased all for my son's room. The first one, the clips that hold it to the ceiling mount broke when I was changing the batteries. The second one came damaged from the manufacturer where the wires attach to the planets. And now for the third one, my son has had it less than a week and it starts & stops spinning all while it is still lit up. It's not the batteries & I know others have listed problems with the motors. My son loves to fall asleep to this. It's too bad they can't make it work right!

Decent Model, A Little Noisy for a Night Light
Posted 1/3/2010 by Jennifer Munzner

Rating:

Setting: Home

I purchased the mobile for my son's fifth birthday. He's a big fan of all things space related. We think the model is a decent solar system representation. I was a little disappointed that Pluto isn't included, but just because I'm from the age of 9 planets in the solar system. I do like the explanation that they wrote up for why Pluto isn't included. The planets are nicely detailed, although the cardboard ring of Saturn seems a little cheap. The only unfortunate part is that my son finds the motor too loud for a bedtime night light. The sun is also quite a bit darker than "Moon in My Room", which he also has. For now I'm not sure what purpose it will really serve, since we won't use it as a night light and we're not often hanging around in his room to watch it. But if someone doesn't mind what's probably a very normal noise level for a motor, it's a nice product.

This is my almost 4 year old grandson's FAVORITE Christmas gift! We've put it in his room and he absolutely loves it! We are learning the planets, and talked about their orbiting the sun quite a bit. Very fun and educational toy, top rating! He really loves that he can use the remote control to turn the sun on and off and make the planets revole around the sun. We were afraid he would stay up after bedtime playing with it, but it hasn't been a problem, and since it shuts off after 20 minutes he can go to sleep with it on. LOVE IT!

5 Year Old's Dream Come True

I purchased this mobile as the final touch for my 5-year-old son's Solar System bedroom. He absolutely loves it and could not be more thrilled. I was a bit disappointed by the fact that Saturn's rings occassionally catch on Jupiter and the noise of the motor. Overall, it was a good purchase and I would recommend it for any child facinated by outer space.

This Solar System Mobile was ordered for use in a classroom of developmentally disabled adults. It is used as a sensory tool. The product has attracted a lot of interest and smiles. It is easy to put up and easy to operate. So far, everyone in the classroom loves it. The individuals ooh and aah and point to it. The sensory function of the mobile is very good.

I can't find a better rotating solar system mobile. The timer feature is convenient for use at toddler bedtime. Has 2 rotating rings so inner and outer plannets rotate with respect to each other. Installing it was not a problem. The light is not bright and replacing batteries requires taking down the mobile. Also, the motor is a little loud and sounds like it is straining. I wish the central "sun" was smaller & and less tacky.

We purchased this for our 7 year old boy's birthday. He is fascinated with the solar system and specifically requested this toy. It was easy to install and looks very cool is his room. My only criticism would be that the motor is a little bit noisy. If you are using it as a night lite, a child that is distracted by noise might be bothered by the motor. Great concept and learning tool.

Solar System Mobile - What a delight!
Posted 12/10/2009 by Julie DeFilippo

Rating:

This will be given to a boy of 6 who is very interested in space travel, the planets and the solar system. From the picture I thought it would be rather large, however it's just the right size for his room when we finally got it out of the box to take a peek. A few more pictures (actuals) of how it works/looks would have been a bit more helpful. It was basically purchased on blind faith that it would fit and be fun for my son.

Son loves it but....
Posted 8 days ago by Megan

Rating:

the mobile was very easy to assemble (probably took me about 5-10 minutes) and was very easy to attach to te ceiling. all 3 kids and both adults enjoy the fact that the planets revolve around the sun, on 2 different axises, to imitate how our solar system really works! the only complaint from my son (who wanted to use this as he falls asleep) is that, i guess, the "motor" is too loud. it does make a loud hum, which is tolerable IF the intent is not to fall asleep with it. the only complaint from myself is i wish it was hanging down from the ceiling maybe like an inch more. when we were hanging up, we were afraid that it would hit the ceiling. it doesn't, but it's cutting it close. and just a suggestion (because my son's room is black light sensitive): it may be very cool if it were black light sensitive or glowed in the dark. overall, i love it. the kids love it. i would recommend it to anyone.
