The Boring Subbie
Posted 7/12/2009 by Michael

Rating:

We have other Subbies that dive and swim around in irregular patterns. The Clowny Subbie we received does not dive. It just goes around and around in a small circle on the surface of the water. We do not know if this is defective or just how the Clowny Subbie works.

This works well as it has a good motor. I bought it for my two year old and am holding off until he is a bit older as the fan blade isn't safe enough for him to play with right now. He actually enjoyed playing with the baby fish.

Just buy a plain subby - baby doesn't add much.

This is a great toy. My family loves swimming after it and getting everyone in the pool involved with catching it.
The next purchase will be just a plain subbie. The baby never stays on - during the swimming or the catching.
The batteries corrode rather quickly. Too bad the sealing ring doesn't keep out all the water.

Fun fish
Posted 3/18/2009 by Jeff Swartz

Rating:

This fish is bound to our bathtub where it quickly circles the perimeter bumping into walls (too bad the mouth isn't a soft rubber instead of hard plastic). It's fast and the propeller is soft to touch and won't hurt the little ones. When the magnet baby is attached, it doesn't swim as elegant so I leave it off. The device is activated by rotating the two halves of the fishes torso. Care must be taken when rotating to prevent the fish from separating and getting water inside the battery compartment. Overall it's a fun/inexpensive bathtub distraction toy.

cool water toy

Simple yet fantastically fun water toy. My daughter uses it in the bath tub for now, and it entertains her for thirty minutes or more. She also has Pengy and loves how the babies attach to the bigger swimmer.

Fun toy!

I have always been a fan of Subbies and this one was no exception. The baby attached to the mother is my daughter's favorite part. We use the toy in our pool, and it's so much fun swimming around and chasing it - it's so fast, and it travels quite the distance! The only thing that I would definitely emphasize, though, is that the batteries need to be taken out after each use. We failed to this with our "Shamu" Subbie, and the batteries got corroded inside. Miraculously, we just rinsed it out, popped new batteries in, and it still works just fine. We'll definitely be more careful with our Clown Mother & Baby Subbies.

We love these types of toys. The boys have a blast with them in the tub and also in the pools. They are so fast and "zip" around and flip and flop so fast that the kids have so much fun just trying to catch them.

We absolutely loved the clown fish and its genius idea. Our family had so much fun playing in the pool with this and the penguin. They were chased by all the little kids that thought it was so much fun. It was a great idea and we loved it.
The only complaint is that the paint on the toy started to peal off. Its better in the bathtub than the pool
