My daughter was thrilled to get this kit. She had a smaller one, but can now do so much more. Plus, there is enough parts that a friend can also work with her.

What An Awesome Tool/Toy!

Background: I'm a graduate student in materials science and engineering. The students I'm teacher's assistant for this semester have been needing help understanding crystal structures (and at times I have too...), so I decided to buy the Zome Tool - Explorer Kit. This product is wonderful, fun, and excellent for demonstrations (in bonding, structures, interstitials, vacancies, plane identification, and more reasons that I'll come up with later). I even built a Buckyball with a diameter that was up to my waist (I'm 5'7") to see inversions, glide planes, rotations, and other symmetry operators. Of course, beyond the academic environment, I have loved just playing with this stuff! Highly recommended. As an ambitious builder I would have preferred the biggest kit, but as a college student, beggars can't be choosers.

My son loves this toy. It allows for terrific creativity. Zome Tool is very fun. My one and only complaint is that the pieces can easily break if the child (or siblings) are not old enough to understand the pieces are not meant to be flexible.

The Zome Explorer Kit keeps the imaginative juices flowing. My 10 year old son is always coming up with new things to build. My 4 year old daughter likes to play with them too. Great toy for most ages.

We have looked at the CD and we have played and played. Even the adults were getting into it. We love Zome and can't wait to purchase more! It would be great if you also sold buble making supplies, like glycerine. Bubbles are so much better with a little of that and we had hours of fun with the cube and some bubble solution.

A hit right out of the box. It can create both large and compact structures. A good step up from tinker toys (although the little plastic ends do break off more easily). The included storage case allows builders to select without dumping, keeps the pieces in one place, and makes clean-up manageable. All in all, a recommended building toy.

This is a creative product which stimulates my kids to think in new ways.
The only problem is that the struts are not as strong as the manufacturer claims and breaks off easily at the point of insertion (junction of the main strut and the small end meant for attachment to the zome ball). Hopefully they research and come up with a better material to make this product.
