Hydrocephalus

Whenever possible, we gather feedback from our customers on how our toys are being used by children with hydrocephalus in hopes of providing guidance for other special needs caregivers. We hope you find these "special perspectives" helpful as you shop for developmentally appropriate toys and games.

Brio Magnetic Building Blocks
"Wonderful for working on cognitive concepts such as color sorting and block building. Also fantastic for working on different hand grasps. "

Laser Pegs 3 Models in 1 ZippyDo
"Our son cannot stand independently but can tall kneel when given motivation and something to hold on to. This can be built to multiple heights promoting both. He can tall kneel while doing it, but often forgets he needs to hold onto something else to stabilize him. It falls pretty easily and I've toyed with the idea of taping some of the pieces together. Some pieces do not fit well together. It is great for stimulating fine motor skills, imagination, creativity, building skills, etc. However, one has to be patient when purchasing for small children. When it falls (and it has quite frequently for us) you are the one who has to put it back together! Other than that, it is a lot of fun and keeps their interest. "

Flag Frenzy
"My son loves toys that give him facts."

bilibo
"Seems to help with balance and motor skill development."

PlasmaCar
"Our 2 yr old grandchild has a Dandy Walker Variant, which is a slight brain malformation. He has to work a little harder to accomplish many tasks that he faces in a day. His main difficulty is his speech. He has good balance. He was able to drive the plasma car right from his initial time of getting on the car. He seemed confident while riding. He seemed to know how to operate it without any direction of any kind from an adult. It was an excellent choice of toy for this toddler."

Peanut Ball - 22 inch
"The shape and size makes it easier for our boy to use instead of a round ball, it makes exercise easier."

Cage Bell
"This was great for cause and effect. I am also a speech therapist and a side benefit is that our special boy babbled and 'talked' more while using this than at any other time in his two years."

Mozart Magic Cube
"In my nieces case, the larger the keys/buttons the better for her."

Mobile Photo Clip
"Would be great if you can find a way to keep it from collapsing together once it has been hung. Perfect for the Wee Gallery contrast and design cards. Used for visual stimulation."

Solar System Floor Puzzle
"Puzzles with nature, and wildlife scenes appreciated. Brain injury wise, our son maintained his long term memory. He was 16 at the time of his accident. These puzzles work out well for Jeff. He has initiation deficit. Very few things he's able to stick with. Jeff will actually request to make a puzzle. They're easy for him to put together on our kitchen table. He's learning from them. The 1st time he makes a new one...help is needed. Afterwards, he's slowly able to figure them out by himself. "

Ybike
"Great item to focus on balance and strengthening of lower extremties. Also great for coordination and problem solving."

Fun Ride Deluxe
"Seeing the product, anyone can use it safely and have much fun."
