Reptangles is a toy of innovative design. The geometry of the polyhedra shape is an essential component to the appeal and countless ways Reptangles can be combined. Children quickly advance their skills, first building simple polyhedra and then advancing to complex polyhedra. Truncated octahedrons never looked so good! Once they start creating, children forget these are turtles with purpose!
Dive into symmetry, reflections and rotations with the accompanying, full-color Exploration Guide. You'll find incredibly interesting geometry. The guide also features step-by-step diagrams to create complex and beautiful structures; it sparks the curiosity of even the most seasoned building toy veteran! Reptangles are recommended for Ages 6+.
Reptangles are often purchased for younger children, (as seen in the graphs below).
Young children may need a few years of growing before they have the fine motor skills needed to snap the turtles together effectively.
As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.
NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 6 years of age.

Identified Special Needs Challenges: Speech & Language Delay
"The child who used the toy has extreme difficulty reading. She played with it with her family, and it was the first time that she felt good about participating in a family activity. It's an excellent self-esteem builder for kids whose abilities are not readily apparent."
Identified Special Needs Challenges: Aspergers,
"Reptangles help with fine motor planning skills and some bi-lateral integration of movement on a fine motor scale. These are both commonly problems for children on the Spectrum."

This is a great toy for the child who likes to build with blocks or legos. More limited in some respects (hard to build a building out of reptiles) but with geometric possibilities that are harder to achieve with other forms. The brightly colored reptiles make whatever she builds visually pleasing.
perhaps a bit too young at 5

My grandson, the recipient, sees his dad (my son) every other weekend. And because they live far away I was only able to see him open the present (online viewing) and then he and dad tried to put something together. My grandson's 5th birthday, he had some trouble making the connections first try. I bet he's much better at it now but I haven't asked or had a chance to see him again. I imagine my son might be putting together some nice polyhedrons on his own though!

I originally asked for a relative to get these for my son when he was three. Well, he was too young for them. But now at age five, he loves creating interesting 3-D sculptures. They are colorful, unique building pieces that don't kill your foot if you happen upon them in the middle of the night. So we bought them for our nephew recently too.
We bought an assortment of gifts from this website for my son's 6th birthday. I was pretty excited to give this to my son based on some of the reviews that I've read. Well, he's played with it a few times but finds it hard to connect the pieces together. I'm hoping that we can try it again in a few months and he'll have more of an interest in it.
