First introduced in 1971, the Fisher-Price Music Box Record Player has brought music to children's ears for generations. Place one of the five double sided records on the turntable, wind it up and place the "needle" on the record to hear the classic "music box" rendition of ten timeless melodies. The records store conveniently inside the record player and the carry handle allows children to take it on the go.
Just like the 1971 version in appearance - except for changes due to product safety requirements since that time. The Fisher Price Record Player now requires 3 AA batteries. Batteries are not included.
Songs included:
Humpty Dumpty
Jack and Jill
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
The Farmer in the Dell
Oh Where, Has My Little Dog Gone?
London Bridge
Camptown Races
Children's Marching Song
Hickory Dickory Dock
Au Clair De La Lune

As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.

NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 2 years of age.

Information about Fisher Price Classic Toy - Record Player

I bought this as a gift for my 18 month old nephew. He loves music and I knew he would enjoy having a toy record player like his dad's real one. He loved hearing the music and his big brother liked helping him get the records on and off. My sister-in-law loved how it was so similar to a toy she had when she was little. Great gift for music lovers!

Not like the original!

I was so excited to see Fisher Price come out with their classic toy collection as I have fond memories of some of these toys when growing up myself. So I was happy to purchase these for my own kids and see how they stood the test of time. Upon opening the record player and getting it set up, I noticed that it won't play without batteries! I believe the original was simply a wind-up record player which would play the records in a similar way to a music box (with small dots/grooves embedded on the records). But this uses batteries in order to run which was a huge disappointment to me. I feel they really took away the simplicity component of this toy by changing the way it plays the tunes. The tunes are mostly the same tunes from the original player, however it lacks that music box quality.

Adjustments to the player's design and operation were made in order to meet the rigorous safety requirements implemented within the past few years. As fans of the old school player, we miss the wind-up, no batteries original version also. We contacted our customer promptly. Plan to wind-up here if your purchase isn't exceptional in every way - Returns & Exchanges. We're here to orchestrate a wonderful experience.)
