A playful new way to enhance creativity. The sheer pleasure of play leads to exploration and endless discovery with this kinetic toy.
A ball shape formed by 30 "X" pieces held together magnetically form a skeletal icosidodecahedron. Beyond a cool geometric orb, combine the X magnetic toy pieces in endless ways to form amazing designs.
Because the magnets attract and repel on different surfaces, putting Roger Von Oech's X Ball together is addictive and challenging. Even more fun is the fact that the magnet toy's pieces subtly shift and slide- often choosing a better connection than the one you first initiated. Just like in the fascination of a great experiment, the unplanned results are often better than the strategized ones.
Enhance creativity and initiate problem solving sessions with X Ball. Stimulate playfulness and add fun to your learning/working environment. The magnetic X Ball is excellent in the classroom, therapy sessions, and can provide help with pain management. It provides a valuable tool for distraction and refocusing the mind. This tactile, sensory toy rewards the auditory and tactile senses with a satisfying "click" as X-shaped pieces attach.
Let yourself grow in creative play. Connect right & left sides of the brain for a thinking/creative experience. Expand your logic capabilities with first focus on abstract shapes, then try geometric shapes… combine the X Ball and Von Oech's Y Ball components for incredible constructions.

As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.
NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 14 years of age.

"Our son has enjoyed making new shapes and coming up with his own ideas. It has helped his motor and cognitive skills in trying to replicate the designs."
This toy is very tactile and easy to assemble in its ball form. I had more fun with it when I combined it with the "y" ball pieces and tried to create something symmetrical. That required much more focus.

this product was ordered for our seven yr. old for a teaching toy. the whole family loves it and gets down to play with her or just manipulates it themselves. needless to say it evokes plenty of family and guest participation.
