As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.

NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 4 years of age.

"The child is able to make choices using a switch. You can present several choices of noses, eyes, etc and the child can identify which he would like. You can talk about body parts and label parts of the face. You can have the child identify and point to parts as you name them. Once faces are created, the caregiver can create stories between the faces. This adds a puppet like quality to the toy. The child has a magnetic easel that will be used to lay the pieces on so they are within his vision line. "
Identified Special Needs Challenges:
Aspergers,
Developmental Delay,
Hearing Impairment,
Learning Disabilities,
Sensory Integration Disorder,
Speech & Language Delay,
Vision Impairment
"This particular product is very intuitive. Again, our use is different from the intended use because we are using it to teach genetics concepts but we see lots of children with special needs and not. All kids find this product very engaging and user friendly. Because it is hands on, it actually helps us to get the concepts over effectively with the magnet faces."

I bought this toy for a three year old with limited ability. This toy is going to be used for identifying parts of the body and story creation. Right now he is working on making choices by using a switch. The thought was when presented with different body parts, he will be able to choose which he wanted for the face. Once faces are created, we make up stories to go with them and role play daily conversation between people.
This is a great toy for children of all ability levels. With creative thinking, there is a lot of uses for this set.
