Product review of Strange Plants Garden

The idea of the strange plants terrarium is wonderful. It fell short of my expectations. Directions were unclear at some points and not in a very coherent order. One of the first things that should be mentioned is that each of the seeds has a different time frame for germination, so the planting could be spread over several weeks to achieve the full effect. Four separate containers instead of one large one could help children focus on the different needs for each type of plant. It should also have been mentioned early that seeds should be saved in case a second planting is needed. An excited 6 year old did not let me get that far before he wanted to pour everything into the dirt. In hindsight I should have researched the care and growth cycles of the plants more carefully. If a link to the product instructions were made available, other parents might be able to see and decide if the terrarium is a project they feel comfortable trying with their kids. The directions for the germination of the pitcher plant are extremely difficult to understand. The product directions differ from those on the back of the seed envelope. It doesn't say how much dirt to mix with the teaspoon of distilled water, or if more dirt or water needs to be added during the 6 week session in the refrigerator. Because a carnivorous plant is the highlight of this project for my son, I truly hope I guessed right in my measurements.

Each plant has special instructions and different germination times. Some have to be kept in the refrigerator for a certain amount of time etc. All in all it will be interesting when it's grown, but it's more complicated than what I had hoped
