The powerful 4X telescope is great for viewing distant objects on land, or attach it to the mighty, water-resistant SeaScope to magnify life in streams, ponds, lakes or tidepools! The Aqualite flashlight attaches to the SeaScope for viewing in dark or murky underwater conditions! A built-in ruler allows on-the-spot measuring of specimens, and a thermometer strip determines the temperature above or under water. Requires 2 AA batteries, not included.

Product review of GeoSafari SeaScope
Posted 1/3/2008 by S. Nield

Rating:

The product itself is great. Easy to use. I believe it would work if you had the correct water. The pond we happened to go to was muddy. I look forward to using it in clearer water. I think it will be just great.

The Seascope appears to be well made. Everyone of all different ages was interested in seeing what it could do.

Disappointed

Rating:

The idea seems great, but the construction of the GeoSafari SeaScope was disappointing. The telescope barely improved visibility for anything nearby and showed nothing at a distance. The telescope also would not nestle into the underwater viewing scope well - we had to wrestle it into the neck and then hold on tight. It didn't really go in and certainly wouldn't stay. It wobbled so much that viewing was impossible. We didn't even bother actually trying it underwater, so I can't tell you if the underwater flashlight worked. (Note from Fat Brain Toys: Our customer returned the defective Seascope for a full refund.)

Pretty Cool

The seascope works pretty well in shallow, calm water for inspecting things. For younger kids, the microscope attachment is a little tricky to insert and get to stay straight, but it's nice to be able to inspect things close up. A nice way to explore tide pools.

My 6 year old couldn't wait to look through the scope. She used it in the tub due to the cold weather outside. She is looking forward to taking it to our summer home by the lake and exploring the waters for creatures!
