As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.
NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 10 years of age.
My rating of Microscope Set in Carrying Case
Posted 1/4/2012 by Sarah Mahair
I found the microscope kit as a whole to be a wonderful set. I was pretty disappointed with the low quality of the slides and the microscope doesn't focus well. I was hoping it would have been higher quality. But for the price,It was a good buy.
Not worth the money

When looking through the microscope with the light on, I can only see a bunch of hollow circles. This may be a reflection of the light, but it makes it impossible to see anything on the inserted slide. If I don't use the light, and instead depend on room light, I can't see anything. Whatever is causing the problem, it makes the microscope inoperable.
Poor reflection? Here's some direction. Please visit the Returns & Exchanges center if any Fat Brain Toy fails to shine. We promptly provided our customer a credit for the defective microscope.

I am a little disappointed in the size of this microscope, I expected it to be bigger and heavier. My concern is my son could easily knock it off of his desk and break it while working on projects. I wish it were bigger and more resilient. It does do everything a microscope should do and it does it well.
We ordered this product for our 8 year old daughter for Christmas. While she hasn't played with it yet, I know she'll love it! It comes with so many options and features and all in a convenient case to keep it organized and safe. My child is very interested in science so this seemed like a great way to motivate her to learn even more. One of the best things about the microscope set is that she can create her own slides as it comes with blank slides and covers allowing her to pursue her own interests in what she investigates under the microscope.
