My son recieved Junior Snap Circuits several years ago and loved it. Since he is older now, he was thrilled with the expanded version with computer compatibility. He started playing with it immediately!
An Engineers Opinion

Rating:
Probably the easiest way to introduce your child to electrical and electronic theory. Snap Circuits are very easy to use, and hard to damage. As an Electrical Engineer I could have chosen to “DIY” something for my 7 year-old, but instead I can spend the time working with him, not building a training system.
Quality Concerns

We also bought one of the bigger snap circuits and the first project (#1 of 700, or so) we put together didn’t work. It would appear that the solder connection between snap connection and the light bulb wasn’t done well, the wire with a blob of solder on the end is just hanging unconnected inside the assembly. Circuit #2 did work, that’s as far as we have gotten. It would appear that your suppliers need some small quantity control standards. So I’d have to say that the jury is still out. (Note from Fat Brain Toys: We contacted our customer with the assurance that if the Snap Circuits set is defective, Fat Brain Toys will promptly provide a refund or replacement.)
