It's Award Winning AntWorks!
A highly sophisticated ant farm, the most captivating insect toy we've ever seen! Based upon a 2003 NASA Space Shuttle experiment to study animal life in space and test how insects-ants, successfully tunnel in microgravity. Antworks captures the attention of people like us, who find this novelty attractive, intriguing and a thrilling medium for insect study! An excellent educational tool for the home, biology classroom, or any science teacher!
NASA scientists thought of everything. Nutrient gel means that THE ANTS NEED NO FOOD OR WATER! The AntWorks gel is complete with nutrients to promote healthy growth in the new ant colony. All you do is sit back and enjoy the view as ants live, work & tunnel in the nutritious and non-toxic gel creating series upon series of intricate tunnels.
Ants are highly intelligent, organized, numerous, and strong. With their largely developed brains, their compassion for fellow ants and ability to work as a team, their amazing physical strength-often lugging 20 times their body weight, and an innate predisposition for a healthy attitude toward work- Antfarms have benefits beyond a simple study of insects!
Thousands of years ago, King Solomon wrote: "Go to the ant, consider its ways and be wise." Well, going to the ant just got easier. From Fat Brain Toys- it's the latest greatest Antfarm...AntWorks to you.

Interesting Facts about Cool Insects -Ants!
(Ants not included)
The nutrient, non-toxic gel is formulated to last up to one (1) year and provide ALL the food and water the ant colony needs to live in their antfarm habitat. Usually ants will live anywhere from 2 - 6 months and in the "AntWorks" habitat they are 'safe' from disease, cold/wet, and predators.
Also, whenever ants are attacked, it is the OLDEST worker (all female) ants that exit the colony to protect it...so if you capture you own ants, you will never know exactly HOW long they will live. Maybe days, weeks or months.
Also, whenever an ant "expires", their buddies normally carry them to the TOP of the gel (where they place the 'tunnel debris')...so you can always OPEN the lid and take them out, and if you wish, later put in NEW, FRESHER ants to replace the ones that have expired.
As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.
NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 6 years of age.

"It is small enough that the students can handle the ant farm, and sturdy enough that we never had to worry about the lid. We chart the numbers of tunnels, the lengths, journal, learn about the jobs and how the ants work together (compare to classroom, and community jobs and the need to work together). We wrote creatively (some did storytelling that could not write and video taped it) about what is happening, what the ants are thinking watching us, what would their day be like, compared their ways of communicating without words to our ways of communicating without words. We always kept magnifying glasses handy for the kids to look and explore. Every day students from the mainstream popped in to see the changes as well. It doesn't matter what age or ability- there is so much to be learned and enjoyed from these ants. To adapt for mild/moderate visual impairments, I would put it under a document camera for the Smartboard so it can be blown up and seen in actual time."

I bought this for my 7 year old grandson's birthday. But I think it was actually just as much fun for my son (his daddy)! It has been fun, educational and has taught him responsibility among other things.
Since ants were not included, I asked my son to gather some. So far we have some, but nothing is happening as of yet, this is our second group! hopefully this new group will work out, if not I will order the ants.
Can't take our eyes off it

I bought this for my Special Education classroom of high school students. So many others came to our room daily to check out the ants and see what they were up to. Was great for Science, teamwork, journalling, and creating writing. Loved it so much- we just bought a second one!
