Acuity - The Maverick New Game of Sharp Vision & Keen Thought! For reinforcing visual spatial skills, pattern recognition, and quick mental processing, Acuity is a brilliant choice! -And full of new zest too! Acuity is a fun, brainteasing game unlike any other you've seen before.
(The quickest way to learn Acuity- watch the video from the tab above the game image on this page. If you're more the "reading" sort, the highlights below will give you the fast facts on Acuity as well.)
Acuity is the clever matching game of quick visual perception where players race against each other or work together to discover and match hidden patterns in the tiles' arrangement.
First, 70 wonderfully durable and vibrantly mind-bending pattern tiles, are set in a grid arrangement of 36 tiles. Your job will be to find a match.
Here's the kicker. None of the tiles match. Not one. All 70 are different. Sooooo that means to find a match, players must find two side-by-side tiles that together, by looking at 2 adjacent squares on each - would match the tile that you're hoping to match. Or- alternatively, players could find the matching pattern by looking at the corners of 4 tiles together. *If you can't see a match, you can turn one tile one quarter of a turn to make one. It's easy.
Easy until your mind's eye tricks you! It's the surprise in finding a match or thinking you've found a match (when you really haven't) that makes Acuity a one-of-a-kind, long-lasting source of fun game play over time. Acuity is never, ever the same game twice. Really. Not ever.
Featuring 70 wonderfully durable and vibrantly mind-bending pattern tiles, Acuity will delight all ages. With simple rules, Acuity is a game the entire family can play together. No reading required... simply the ability to flip, turn and match!
Flip, Turn, Match-
A mind-bending, eye-catching tile race!
Cleverly designed patterned tiles test your visual acuity

A maverick new game with rapid game play

Fit for families, party fun, (and general good times)
As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.
NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 6 years of age.
Identified Special Needs Challenges: Muscular Dystrophy,
"We use this game to supplement vision therapy. Rotating pieces, matching patterns, scanning, visual memory.
Pieces are thick enough to be easily picked up by another family member with muscular dystrophy. That was an initial concern when purchasing but the size/thickness of the tiles makes grasping easy."
Identified Special Needs Challenges: Autism
"Good for recognizing current patterns on the table, as well as a future pattern when a tile is turned. Encourages abstract thinking."
Identified Special Needs Challenges: Traumatic Brain Injury
"This was given to my daughter and I figured it was good for my mother. She has a traumatic brain injury and these games with spacial manipulation strengthen her recovery. It doesn't have to be played with as many cards as they recommend which is nice. You can modify the game to fit the ability of the user. She hasn't played it yet, but I can see this being very useful in comparison with the games her therapists have recommended to date..."
Great game for mixed age play

We purchased this game to supplement our 10 year old's vision therapy. While I still feel it is a great purchase from the standpoint of improving his visual performance, I would purchase it again solely for "fun".
We have used the game for individual play and group game play. We recently played with group ranging from 10 to 71. Everyone (even the teenager) enjoyed it. The rules were easy to understand so we could quickly start playing.
The game itself is well made. I like that the box lid fits securely. The pieces are thick and sturdy. The only change I would make is to redesign the tray so the tiles stay in place if the game is stored vertically.
My rating of Acuity

Acuity is being played by the whole family: Dad, Mom, Jessica, age 8 and the gift recipient, Ryan age 7. Interestingly, Dad and Ryan are the quickest so far but the challenge is on! I expect the game will become a family favourite and one reason is that there is an endless array of patterns so the game rules are constant but the board always changes.
Grandma and Grandpa were invited to play as soon as we arrived for a post birthday visit.
Great Game for Teaching Spatial Recognition

I bought this game for a 6 yr old boy but since it's not a video game, it was put by the wayside. So I played this game with a few adults. The purpose of the game is to match up the 4 symbols on a tile with the same 4 symbols on the board. There are no two tiles that are alike, so many times you have to rotate (in your head) a tile to get the symbols to match up. Since you are competing with the other players on who can spot the match first, the game can be quite difficult depending on how old/smart your opponents are. All of the adults loved this game and I bet once the kid puts the video game down, he will love it too!
