Acuity - The Maverick New Game of Sharp Vision & Keen Thought! For reinforcing visual spatial skills, pattern recognition, and quick mental processing, Acuity is a brilliant choice! -And full of new zest too! Acuity is a fun, brainteasing game unlike any other you've seen before.
(The quickest way to learn Acuity- watch the video from the tab above the game image on this page. If you're more the "reading" sort, the highlights below will give you the fast facts on Acuity as well.)
Acuity is the clever matching game of quick visual perception where players race against each other or work together to discover and match hidden patterns in the tiles' arrangement.
First, 70 wonderfully durable and vibrantly mind-bending pattern tiles, are set in a grid arrangement of 36 tiles. Your job will be to find a match.
Here's the kicker. None of the tiles match. Not one. All 70 are different. Sooooo that means to find a match, players must find two side-by-side tiles that together, by looking at 2 adjacent squares on each - would match the tile that you're hoping to match. Or- alternatively, players could find the matching pattern by looking at the corners of 4 tiles together. *If you can't see a match, you can turn one tile one quarter of a turn to make one. It's easy.
Easy until your mind's eye tricks you! It's the surprise in finding a match or thinking you've found a match (when you really haven't) that makes Acuity a one-of-a-kind, long-lasting source of fun game play over time. Acuity is never, ever the same game twice. Really. Not ever.
Featuring 70 wonderfully durable and vibrantly mind-bending pattern tiles, Acuity will delight all ages. With simple rules, Acuity is a game the entire family can play together. No reading required... simply the ability to flip, turn and match!

As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.

Acuity

Rating:

Receiver is 6. Well designed packaging. Believe that instructions are not good enough. Pattern matching recommendations are questionable. Try to show more options in the patterning options. I really enjoyed it, even if I did it incorrectly.

great game for all ages!

Younger children can still play Acuity

I got this for my soon-to-be-4-year-old daughter as an 'aspirational' game and was a little concerned it may be too advanced. But as the game indicates, you can alter the way you play it to adjust for your child's learning curve and cognitive level. So I started setting up the "board" and picking out the easiest matches for my daughter (e.g. 4 circles, 4 stars, 2 adjacent squares & 2 adjacent diamonds, etc.). As she got used to it, she began matching some of the more complex tiles on her own. At each step of the way I would give her positive reinforcement for finding a match and now she brings the game to me to play and enjoys finding the matches. At this point, I still have to introduce the "quarter-turn" element of the game to her but I'm in no rush. As usual, it'll probably happen sooner than I anticipate.

Great concentration game

This is a wonderful game of 'I spy' packaged in a fun way. Not only does it foster competition between my two kids (and me) but it's helping them think 'outside the box' when it comes to finding the right matches!

Acuity good, but challenging

I got Acuity to help hone my daughter's vision; she's seeing a developmental optometrist. She was excited to play the game; it took some explaining before we both figured out how to play. It is challenging, for both of us, to look for matching patterns. She still is asking to play the game, so that's promising. I did have to give her some hints as to what section of the board had the match. I'm thinking the more she plays, the better she'll get!
