This is a great game and my 4 year old son loves it! He likes trains and he loves playing matching games. The cards are large and sturdy, which makes them easy for a young child to pick up, which is very nice. The train scenes are fun too. There are enough cards to keep the game fun and interesting too. The game is challenging enough for a small child without being overwhelming to complete the game. I haven't seen anything like this before, so I think it's a very inventive form of a matching/memory game!
Just make sure you have plenty of space to play (like the floor or a large table) because the cards are larger than a standard deck of playing cards and the trains get long as more matches are made.

Information about Flip-A-Longs - The Long Long Locomotive

I ordered this knowing it was a "game" but thinking it could be used as a long puzzle as it appears that way on the box. There are no cutouts, however, so it is really a game only, a matching exercise. This is fine, and I will introduce it to my 2 year old grandson soon, but if you are looking for a puzzle, you should know this is not a puzzle. I wonder how much more it would have cost the manufacturer to make it both a puzzle and a game.

Our 4-year-old grandson really enjoys building the long train. We prefer to use it in a "non-competitive" way--everybody works together to build a verrrry long train!
