The Earth is made of rocks and this poster provides a comprehensive overview of what they are and how they are formed. It begins by explaining that rocks are made of minerals and that each type of rock is the result of a specific mixture of minerals subjected to a clearly defined geological process. All posters measure 24" X 36".
The bulk of the poster is divided into three sections, one for each type of rock: igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. An illustration shows how they are made. It is followed by photographs of a dozen representational specimens. A dramatic photograph shows a natural formation. A bonus section shows and explains some of the more specialized and popular rock forms such as geodes, concretions, agates and thunder balls. This is a great poster for earth science classes, but one also appreciated by rock collectors as it is a helpful resource for identification.

rocks and mineral posters

I ordered these posters to be displayed on the wall over a rock and mineral exhibit that is in a wildlife and nature museum, and I was extremely pleased at both the quality, size and general appearance of the two posters. They are receiving great reviews by visitors. the building is used as a county wide scout meeting hall and environmental education center, and they hve to earn badges involving rocks and minerals. This greatly enhances that value of learning for them.

Very Cool Poster for a Budding Geologist

I love this poster as it groups different types of rocks (Igneous, Sedimentary, etc) and explains how they are formed. I looked at other posters that simply identified rocks, but I thought this one encouraged more understanding. The poster arrived carefully rolled, boxed, and in great shape.
