28 inches of large-scale sensory fun! Kids can't wait to get their hands on it and grasp the nubby texture of this giant sensory ball. It's not long and they are catching, throwing, kicking, lying on, rolling over, and laughing out loud with delight over this durable, versatile ball.
4 highly sensible reasons for choosing a Sensory Ball for your child:
1. Sensory Balls enhance sensory stimulation:
When children hold a sensory ball, they appreciate the nubbly texture. When they squeeze one, they can feel the rubber stretch and contract beneath their fingertips. Sensory balls are effective in massage stimulation. Softly rolling textured sensory balls on the back or feet heightens sensory awareness. Sensory balls are favored by kids of all ages for the novel design and comfort of easy grip texture.
2. Sensory Balls enhance gross motor skills:
From their first months to years later children improve both fine and gross motor skills with in a big way with sensory balls. Infants crawl toward sensory balls enhancing eye/hand coordination, use muscles to reach a sensory ball, then grasp and hold on tight! As children grow, they enthusiastically squeeze, roll, throw and kick sensory balls. Growing skills in balance, agility, coordination, strength, and motor planning happens naturally.
3. Sensory Balls enhance socialization:
Young children interact with others as they roll a sensory ball across the floor to mom and dad, grandpa or grandma. Older children eagerly toss sensory balls to playmates and engage in more rigorous play. And the older we get, the more uses we find for sensory balls... Exercise on the ball strengthens core muscles, body awareness, balance and attention. (Try rolling it over your back for a deep pressure tactile massage. Ahhh! Now that's more like it.)
4. Sensory Balls enhance visual and perceptual skills:
Vivid color captures child interest. Unique projections peak visual curiosity.

As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.

NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 3 years of age.

Good quality, excellent for tummy time
Posted 10/3/2010 by Elizabeth Bellon

Rating:

Setting: Home

This product is excellent for tummy time. Also working on the ball stimulates the vestibular (balance) system for baby. Overall, the price was affordable and the shipping time was excellent. If you have a good ball pump at home, you can easily inflate the ball. As baby grows the ball can be used for many types of play.

My kids love it! The bumps give them the right sensory feedback. I wish it was bigger, but this size works well for the 3rd grade students I teach and younger.

Rating:

My severly autistic, non-verbal 4 1/2 year old LOVES this ball. He does not like many toys or anything at all, so finding something he really likes is wonderful! He likes to roll on it or lay on the floor & put his feet on it!

Excellent choice for tactile stimulation!
Posted 12/20/2009 by RHONDA C BURNAMAN

Rating:

I am the adoptive mother of a total care, special needs child whose diagnosis includes cortical blindness. Because of this condition, along with cerebral palsy and autism, he requires a lot of tactile feedback in his learning and play. In my search for tactile toys for him, I came across Fat Brain Toys' website. They have a marvelous collection of tactile toys that will benefit Drew in his school and fun time.
