The mini-robot Hexbug Crab will crawl its way into your affections.
"Feelers" on the crabs legs are actually sensors that help it maneuver around obstacles.
Shy around noise, Hexbug Crab scuttles away from loud noises. More highly evolved than its robotic bug cousins, Hexbug Crab uses its light sensors to move. When he discovers he's in a dark space, Hexbug Crab is content to hang out incognito. If a light shines and he knows he's been discovered, he's on the move again, just like a real crab.

"This little crab is different than the typical items you find in every Walmart or Target that requires no thought for the person using it. When given to my son, it's uniqueness peaked his interest. The design is interesting to him and he seems to like the fact that he can see more of what's going on with the parts of it in the sense of understanding how it works. It's really small so he doesn't play with it as much as he would had it been bigger and easier to manipulate."

"The HexBug Crab was a gift for my 8 year old Autistic son and his brother who does not have Autism. My autistic son was very interested in this toy. He loved the way it moved and would change direction when prompted. In fact they both slept with their new toys that night. He has always had a fascination with how things work. This toy gave him a look at a crab which he normally would not see and a reference for how a crab moves around. The mechanics of the toys were of great interest to him. His younger brother began walking like a crab for days."

My Grandson did play with the Hexbug a little while he was here, but we didn't spend a lot of time at home during his visit so he really didn't have a chance to see all that it can do. It's a very cute toy, though, and I'm sure he will enjoy it!

Got this for my grandson for his birthday. loves the crab!! The best part is that you have contol of how its works! Great for a 7 year old.!

I gave this to my great-grandson who is 8 and he absolutely lovesd it--will play with it for literally hours--great present for Christmas or any time.

My grandchildren are 6 and 3. A 6 year old very intelligent and imaginative girl. The 3 year old is a fun loving boy. Neither one showed much interest on either toy. They do have hex bugs so that may be the reason for the lack of interest in the hermit crab...

Hermit Crabs -interestingly, prefer human interaction. If your children are not fully content with their crustacean, send him crawling on back. Visit the Returns & Exchanges Center to get a leg up on the details.
