Players of all ages are captivated by the original Brio Labyrinth game. Use the handles to guide the steel ball through the maze. The closer you get to the goal, the more points you score. But move the board carefully, or the ball may fall through a hole. The Labyrinth is perfect for developing motor skills, concentration, perception, reasoning, and most of all patience! Includes 2 additional beginner boards. Ages 6 and up.

Great Fine Motor Developer
Posted 1/1/2008 by Gary Peare

Rating:

My son has Down Syndrome. He loves computer games, and I thought this would allow him to use both hands and develop his fine motor skills. I'd wanted to get him a Brio Labyrinth for some time, but earlier editions did not come with the extra boards-and I didn't want to get him something that would frustrate him immediately. He's mastered the simplest board and is working on the second. My only complaint about the Labyrinth is that the table tends to stick if the board is tilted too far. But this is minor (I presume it's just a tolerance thing), and anyway, to be successful with the mazes you have to develop subtle movements.

It is nice to have the extra beginner's boards as even adults have difficulty completing the advanced board. Even our 4 year old grandson loved the beginner boards.

Red Labyrinth with Extra Game Boards
Posted 12/27/2007

Rating:

Our grandson was very pleased when he opened it. He said his teacher only had a brown one, and he liked the red color. We also liked the extra game boards. This toy appears to be well made to stand up to children's use. Everyone took turns trying their skills. It brought back memories for the adults, as they had played Labyrinth in their childhoods.

A Keeper Despite Some Faults
Posted 11/5/2007 by Mr Keith McCombs

Rating:

I remember playing with friends' Labyrinths about 50 years ago and wanted wanted my own. The basic unit which I purchased is very good operationally and has very smooth controls, which I enjoy. I would prefer a natural rather than painted finish and the 'fences' which define the path are plastic rather than the wood of bygone days. Also, the playing surface has very minor 'valleys' in it caused by the way the 'fences' are formed. This unit is keeper. However, over all I would give it a 'B+'. My guess is that 'A's are no longer manufactured. One reason I purchased this model Labryinth was for the extra boards. I have 5 grandchildren. The oldest is 9. I thought the extra game boards would make the game fun for the younger ones as well. However, they are quite disappointing. The playing surfaces have similar 'valleys' as the basic unit, but more pronounced. Also, they are warped so much so that they do not lie flat on top of the basic unit and the ball often rolls right off the unit onto the floor. Presently, I am trying to figure out some way to unwarp them. I give these a 'D'. (Note from Fat Brain Toys: We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee on all purchases.
