As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.
NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 5 years of age.

"My child is a visual learner. It was easier to see and feel the words."
Identified Special Needs Challenges: Traumatic Brain Injury
"WE are using these with our 31 year old daughter in law to re-teach her how to read. She had a stroke 1 year ago and with her traumatic brain injury, she has made significant gains. The reading piece is the hardest part of her recovery. The words are a big size and so they are easy for her to see. I would have liked to have more words and words that could be connected to make larger words. We put words on the refrigerator and let Jess see them and work on what we might have created for her. She enjoys this helpful interaction!"
Identified Special Needs Challenges: ADD/ADHD,
Aspergers,
Autism,
Learning Disabilities
"I used this product to help my students practice creating sentences. The use of the magnets eliminates the students need to think of the words on their own - a process which can make the actual goal of writing a sentence seem more difficult. This product is also a great manipulative so students are not continuously doing pencil/paper writing activities."

Since the words have gone up on our refrigerator our 6 year old, who is a beginning reader, has taken great pride in making poetry. Having the words on display has opened his creative word-smithing mind.

The first response from my 6 yr. old granddaughter was. "Wow, Grandma, I can make sentences." And that was before she even got the words out of the box! I consider that a MOST successful choice of learning "toy."

I have five year old twins who love to create sentences on the refrigerator. It is especially good for my son, who isn't as interested in reading books as his twin sister, but he loves to create funny sentences.
