Puzzle Glue is Darn Cool

So my wife and I slaved over a puzzle with way too many white pieces for the majority of our Christmas vacation. When we finished, it was quite a sense of accomplishment, and something I never wanted to have to do again. Not that I didn't ever want to make a puzzle again, I just didn't want to make that one ever again. It was very pretty however and we wanted to commemorate the momentous occasion. Enter Puzzle Glue. At first I was a bit nervous and skeptical about the product, but eventually I got over my reservations and dumped a bunch of the stuff in the middle of the puzzle. The first thing I noticed was the caustic smell. This is no Elmer's, and you probably don't want to inhale the fumes for too long. However, after my vision cleared, I was pleasantly surprised by how the puzzle looked with a coat of glue on it. It now had a high-gloss sheen and the colors really seemed to pop. It took some working with the included "special applicator" read: piece of cardboard but I was able to get the entire 2'x3' puzzle covered from edge to edge. This used up about two-thirds of the bottle. At first I was concerned about a few minor "ridges" of glue that were visible but after a few minutes they smoothed themselves out with the apparent help of gravity. The bottle says to let the puzzle sit for an hour so I let it sit for around three just to be safe. It also says to glue on top of newspaper but I used wax paper instead. After drying, the puzzle came up off the wax paper no problem and it seemed very stable. I wouldn't try to make a tabletop out of it but it could easily be framed. You could also flip the puzzle over and glue the backside too but it seemed stable enough so I figured we'd keep the rest for another, smaller puzzle in the future. My only gripe with the product is the smell, make sure to use it in an area that can be ventilated or vacated while it dries. Overall, it does what it says it will do, and it does it well.
I think this glue is great. The reason I bought it is because I have searched high and low for American/Canadian made glue and have not been able to find it until I went on Fat Brain's website. This glue works very well. It definitely has a bit of a strong odor, but putting that aside, I love it. As with all glue, parental supervision is required, but I am so happy I can finally use something other than tape/staples on my son's crafts. Thanks Fat Brain Toys for carrying this product.
The Puzzle Glue worked well. It came with a plastic spreader tool that was easy to use. It dried clear. Where there was sufficient glue it really worked nicely. The bottle said it was enough glue for a 3,000 piece puzzle, not true. I used more than half of a second bottle to complete one side of our 3,000 piece ocean scene puzzle. I might even flip it over to add more to the back side. Overall though, a good product.
