Great Quality Colorful Soft Birdhouse

Rating:

I ordered the Bird House Shape Sorter by Melissa & Doug to use in a class I teach for young children ages 9 months to 3 years. The kids were instantly attracted to this brightly colored birdhouse with its cheerful chubby inhabitants. It was simple for them to put the birds in their house, or to take them out. I appreciated the way to toy is safe - soft so no little person could be hurt falling on it (and several of my kids are just getting the hang of walking, so they do trip often), the birds are big so no danger of swallowing them. The birds are easy for little hands to grasp. Each bird makes a different little sound which delighted the kids. This is a super, durable, charming toy.

Great toy!

The toy has a very nice idea in it's design: funny-looking bright-colour squeaking birds, shaped to fit in it's own window. And it's almost there...
Though there is no that big difference in shape, so birds could be fit almost from any side, and the house itself is too soft:doesn't keep it's form too well.
Overall: the toy is OK, but not great.

Too Squishy For Good Sorting

Rating:

My young toddler has just started to get inerested in putting objects in containers. We wanted a toy that would encourage this interest. As well as help teach her shapes and colors. This bird house is cute and cuddly. It perhaps would be a better choice for a younger baby. The birds can be shoved into any of the openings. It doesn't really teach her which shapes go where.
