Although the tricks' "secrets" are quite obvious to the audience, our 6 and 8-year old girls (bought for the 6-year old) love them. They are so proud that they were able to learn them on their own.

This was a very nice magic set for my almost 8 year old son. He was very impressed with the magic he could easily perform and stun his parents and older siblings. I am sure he will be saving it and showing the tricks to every new person who comes over our home. The parts were colorful and intriguing.

There are only 4 magic tricks in the box so right off the bat, this toy doesn't seem worth the price. But depending on your child's interests, it can be a fun toy, leading to little performances and surprises. It may be something that will get pulled out when we have visitors or a "fresh" audience who can participate in the "illusions."
