I bought this for my 6 year old daughter. She has been playing with a Fashion Plates-like toy at her before/after school care, but I was not able to find anything like it. I decided on this stencil set, and feel that it allows her more creativity in designing fashion outfits than the fashion toys that require you to rub a crayon over plastic plates. The latter gives you only 3 options to mix (head, torso, legs) but these stencils allow many more variations, plus come with decorating stencils (hearts, flowers, etc) to further embellish the outfits. My daughter does get frustrated when tracing the outline of the body and head because the openings are narrow and require a rather sharp pencil. Because she presses hard, the lead dulls quickly so she frequently has to sharpen the pencil. But I don't consider that a defect in the toy--she just needs to learn to not press so hard! The stencils are made of thick, sturdy plastic that I'm sure will last awhile.

This is exactly what my niece wanted. She is a budding artist and this set gives her the opportunity to explore her creative side in terms of fashion and drawing.
