My 1 year old son is more interested in throwing the puzzle pieces right now, and I can say it's very durable! It's a great quality puzzle and you can tell it's made well. I'm sure one day he'll love using it the right way. He does like taking the pieces out. The jumbo knobs make it very easy for little hands to hold onto.
