Hard to Pound Ball Through
Posted 4/21/2008 by Stephanie Lind

Rating:

It is hard to pound the ball through. I think once my child gets older he will really like it.

Tough Toy!
Posted 4/17/2008 by Sara

Rating:

While the Pound and Roll toy is a great concept, the actual toy itself is difficult to use. Pounding the ball through the holes is very challenging, as the holes are slightly too small. It requires a great deal of effort, much more than capable of a toddler. That said, my toddler enjoys trying. We end up working on the task together. So while not an independent toy, the Pound and Roll is great for bonding!

Fun toy -- good companies

The first version of this toy had a defect -- the balls were too big to fit through the holes. But with a short call to Melissa and Doug, there was a new one shipped out right away, no questions asked. We have the new one and our 14-month-old enjoys it. Sometimes, she pushes the ball through with her hands, sometimes she uses the hammer, and sometimes, she uses the hand of her favorite doll. It's fun to see her act "surprised" everytime the ball rolls down to the floor. She also enjoys picking up the balls and putting them in the holes. A good toy for the money.

Pound and Roll Toy Needs Improvement

The holes in the Pound and Roll toy were too small for the balls to be hammered through. It took adult strength to get them through the holes resulting in the balls being dented. My husband cut away the rubber inside each hole to get the product to work as intended. Because the balls are slightly different sizes, the green (smallest) ball now is too small for the holes while the other three can make it through. I would not buy this toy again. (Note from Fat Brain Toys: Please note, Melissa & Doug fully guarantee the quality of their products. Any defective Melissa & Doug product will be promptly substituted with a courtesy replacement by this manufacturer. We contacted the customer with this information, including the Fat Brain Toys policy for returns & exchanges.)

Boys With Mallets
Posted 12/25/2007 by Naomi Mardock

Rating:

We bought this toy for a one-year-old, which is younger than the manufacturer's recommended age of two, but our son knew exactly what to do with it and began pounding at the balls with the mallet. He also liked using the balls as a kind of simple puzzle, taking them out of and putting them back into their holes, and rolling and throwing the balls. However, he can't hit the balls hard enough to get them to drop through and roll out. Even the four-year-old has to really pound and now we have two boys with a wooden mallet.
