Great for the youngest Chefs

This is a great toy for the toddler who is interested in cutting, but still too young to be trusted with the real thing. The velcro makes a nice shushing sound and provides the right amount of resistance, while the wooden knife makes a satisfying clunk on the counter top to finish the deed.
In comparison to other cutting toys (the M&D fruits in particular) the smaller size sushi is easier for small hands to manipulate. The sushi - some what flat, stays in place while the child positions the knife and begins cutting. Be prepared to spend a fair amount of time putting the sushi back together for the smallest children.
The only reason I didn't give this five stars is that I think M&D could improve their quality. Companies like Plan Toys make M&D look pretty second class. However, the quality to this set was typical for M&D.

This toy is very cute! The kids love it and play with it all the time.
