CLOSE-OUT PRICED -- while supplies last, save at least 35%!! While this model airplane kit is decidedly modern in design, surprisingly it dates from the early years of aviation innovation in Japan. The Crow design was the first rubber band powered model plane to ever be built and flown in Japan. Designed and built in 1889, when its inventor based his model on the crow's wing span after studying them in flight. This kit uses balsa wood, ultra light Styrofoam, rubber bands and 5 inches reverse pitch propellers. It has a wingspan of 16 inches and overall length of 18 inches. Complete illustrated instructions and glue are included.

I Really Want To Like This Kit
Posted 2/21/2008 by Helmars Ozolins

Rating:

The quality of the materials is high. I meticulously put the kit together exactly as instructed. My finished product flies like a brick. A homemade paper airplane flies better. It may be a limitation of the kits instructions. They are most in Japanese with some instructions in English. I feel the plane needs some tweaks, and they may actually be in the instructions, but I can't figure it out. Looks great, flies badly. FYI-- Do not try to paint this kit as the illustration shows. The solvents in the paint will Dissolve the thin foam wing material!

Rating:

With all due respect to the Japanese, this glider kit, with all the instructions in Japanese is a very difficult project. The design is great and it appears to be a great little glider, but the truth is I'm not at all happy with it and have concidered just dumping it. With better instructions and more precise parts it could be a real winner.

The Crow Review

Rating:

The Crow looks really neat and flies well. It was a gift from my sons for their pilot grandfather for his birthday and it was well-received. I am looking forward to buying the Hishou for him for another occasion.
