Unlike Candyland or other games of this type, players do not choose one snail to move during the game. Players get to move them all!
Galloping Snails...That's our name for it. (Snail's Pace Race is especially well-suited for special needs kids, those with short attention spans, & parents who find it hard to focus on board games.)
On your mark, get set...race! All snails take the starting line. Players take turns rolling two colored dice and move TWO snails forward with each roll. (If both dice show the same color, the lucky snail gets to advance 2 spaces!) The goal is to anticipate which color of snail will cross the finish line - (and dine on a delicious lettuce leaf first!)
Kids can't contain their excitement as they pull for their favorite snail to take lead of the pack. After a quick, quick introduction, kids' grasp the innovative concept and race to play Snail's Pace Race time and time again without your prompting.
Teaches game skills, color recognition, pre-counting skills, taking turns, cooperative play, fine motor skills, patience, and task completion. No reading or number skills required for playing this educational game!
With two or more game sets and a little added creativity from a teacher - this format is great for an introduction to concepts of making predictions, probability, estimation, and logical deduction!!
There is nothing sluggish about the snails or the kids racing them in Snail's Pace Race.

The wood pieces are nice and durable. I gave the game to a 2-year-old for her birthday and she is already rolling the dice! The game is also helping her to learn her colors. It is definitely a game she will grow into. The only concern I have is that she may loose the dice.

This game is easy to learn to play, only requires color matching skills and basic counting skills, and can be used in a variety of non-competitive and competitve ways. It's the perfect toy!

This is a great first game for young children. My daughter loves to roll the dice and move the snails. It is great for turn taking and color recognition. The snails are competing, not the children.
Great First Game For Toddlers

We purchased this game for our daughter, who turns three in 4 months, as a present. It is a great introduction to playing games in that it teaches your child to take turns, roll dice, interpret what the dice "say" to do, and do it (in the case of this game, it's just moving the appropriately colored snail). All without the added complication of keeping straight whose token is whose or teaching your child to be a good winner/loser. (That will come later!) The snails are fairly large and chunky, perfect for little hands. Our daughter asks to play the "snail game" at least once a day, and has names for all the snails. We've had more luck getting her to follow the "rules" for this game (as much can be expected for someone her age) than the other ages 3 and up games we've tried. Highly recommend the game to others wanted a simple, straightforward game with which to introduce their child or grandchild to the world of board games!
