It is extremely hard to close the top when the jester is put back in the box when the song is completed. The latch on the box I received does not catch very well at all. It becomes very frustrating even for an adult. A child just tosses it aside because it is too difficult to play with. I would hesitate buying this toy for a child. (Note from Fat Brain Toys: Faulty latch or Jack's misbehaving, either way- a "Jack out of the box" just won't do. We promptly shipped our customer a replacement.)

My daughter-in-law requested a jack-in-the-box for her 18 month old. There are two other siblings in the family, and they enjoy helping the 18month old turn the handle and giggle right along with him when the jester pops up. I really like the color, design and quality of this toy.

It was not as expected. From the description it seemed that it would be a wind up toy, which would then play after winding.
