My grandson is eight years old and we have found this to be a bit too sophisticated for his abilities to use alone. He has been fascinated by it and it has certainly stimulated a great deal of interest. Since my daughter home schools, she is going to incorporate the set into some lessons for him. Overall we are very pleased with the Chem C100 and would recommend it to friends who have children a few years older.
