As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.
NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 6 years of age.

"Used for reactive attachment disorder."
Identified Special Needs Challenges: Sensory Integration Disorder
"My 12 year old daughter was jealous of her 4 year old brother getting a moon in his room. Generally, the concept of the toy is endearing to both these age/capability groups from my observation. I am going to purchase a moon for HER room as well. The moon provoked a sense of curiosity, imagination and safety with both of my children."
"My son suffers from a generalized anxiety disorder, OCD, and tourette syndrome. We use this as a grown up nightlight and have added the glow in the dark stars and planets to give him his own galaxy to relax to."
Identified Special Needs Challenges: ADD/ADHD,
"My daughter is still afraid of the dark and she is 12 years old. Moon In My Room provides enough light for her to be comfortable without a nightlight. She said looking at the moon while falling asleep helps her relax also. She has always been afraid to have a friend sleep over because she needed a nightlight. Now she can have more social interaction without feeling ashamed. It is a wonderful product (definitely worth the price of replacing batteries)."
Identified Special Needs Challenges: ADD/ADHD,
Sensory Integration Disorder
"Our 5 yr old son has Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Sensory Integration Disorder. He also struggles with ADD/ADHD as well. We are very apprehensive when purchasing new items because of our son's disabilities. However, the Moon in my Room light has been such a wonderful delight for our child. Our son does not have any sort of sensory issues with this product since there is no noise from it. Nor does he have any sensory issues regarding the level of light coming from the moon. Though the moon cycles through its phases, it does so at a slow enough pace that it does not provoke a foul response from our son. The remote control comes in handy because as our son gets bored or impatient with the speed of the moon, he can advance it himself. It has proven to be a wonderful product. He has a fear of the dark and uses it as a night light. If he wakes up in the night, he'll use the remote to turn the moon back on. Since the moon shuts itself off after so many minutes, we save batteries as well."
My daughter cannot get enough of the moon at night before she goes to bed. We go outside, search for it and then just stare and watch it glow for 5-10 minutes. Now she can have it in her room every night and it acts as a night light as well. We love it.

We purchased this for my 2 year old for her birthday and she loves it! She loves looking and finding the real moon outside so we thought it would be perfect. Currently, it's a great "night light" and she likes to use the remote and make the moon change. Then we leave it on the auto setting for her while she falls asleep. As she gets older she'll be able to learn about the phases of the moon from it and see how it matches up to the real moon outside. So far it works great and it was easy to hang and looks pretty realistic in the dark.
Although this product is not what I expected, it is still really cool. I though it was a projection ( like the rainbow on the site ), but it's an actual wall mounted moon. Looks super realistic , both my kids watch it while falling asleep, and it's nice you can adjust the amount of light by changing the moon phases. The 30 min shut off is also nice because kids always forget to shut things off. My four year old keeps the remote by his bed and uses the light when he needs to get up at night. No wires or difficult install, cool product!
