Gift - not yet opened by receiver but...

This is a gift for my 10 year old nephew who wanted a 3d puzzle for Christmas. I think he will love it. (I gave it a 4 rather than 5 because he hasn't seen it yet). I looked at buying larger models of buildings and such but many of those appeared to have few, large pieces and looked too easy to complete. This puzzle caught my attention because it is truly 3d and because the pieces are all the same color (save the stem) it should be, well, puzzling! I am an engineer and upon prompt delivery of this item, I wanted to play with it myself but was afraid I would have trouble repackaging it!

i've collected quite a few of these 3D puzzles from this manufacture and i would say i like the red apple the best. once you figured out that pattern (and this pattern is used through basically all their symmetric 3D models), then the puzzle becomes less challenging, you might be able to see this pattern the second you open the bag and look at the pieces. if you can't figure that out then chances are it'll keep you entertained for a good 3 hours or so if you're really interested in it, longer if you're not. overall i liked this product (and the others). and it's the size of a real apple so it's really like holding and eating a red apple. since the final piece snaps the whole thing shut together, it feels really solid and the vibrant colors make it worthy of putting it on your office desk or displaying in a glass case. i can't say enough about how good looking this red apple is.

I used to collect these puzzles as a kid and was so happy to see their return! Not only are they fun to do, but cool to look at! No one can resist picking them up. Which is how my daughter broke my first apple puzzle.
