This is a great, well-made product and can be used in a variety of ways. Intended use is as a toy, to dive to the bottom of the pool and retrieve. I also play underwater hockey, and enjoy using these as workout tools to help the underwater portion of my workouts. I space the dive balls at 1/4 length increments, dividing the pool lane into quaters. Underwater workout content includes "bogdats" - breath once, go down and touch, usually followed by some half-length unders & overs, then finally by some full underwater laps. The dive balls make good marker to help me gage how much further to go on the lap. Although underwater hockey is played with a mask, fins & snorkel, I use these for workouts without fins as well.

My 3 and 5 year niece and nephew are reluctant to dive deep into the water so these dive balls are a great way to get them to go deeper without having to go all the way to the bottom.

My boys love these so much I got 2 packs! They are much easier to use than your typical diving toy and because of the floating "tails" my kids are less intimidated about tossing the toy in deeper water. Very fun, I highly recommend!
