As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.
NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 6 years of age.
Review of Spy Gear Ultra Range Walkie Talkie
Posted 6/30/2014 by Diane Gober
These are being returned as they are not the same as the ones I ordered for grandkids at Christmas and are not compatible and are not as nice as the Christmas ones with same item number. Apparently the supplier changed the model in January and it is cheaper although I was charged same price. Credit will be issued to me and my son will return these walkie talkies. Your phone representative could not have been more helpful or nicer and assured me your website would be corrected immediately as the ones I ordered Christmas are still showing on website.
walkie talkies worth having

The walkie talkies are of average quality overall, and well worth the price paid. They are handy to have around when several kids of the same age are playing together, otherwise they aren't used too often.
Very fun, effective, but remember to turn them off!

These are great walkie talkies. As long as your kid is old enough to understand that they must release the button in order to hear the other person, they will have lots of fun. The interface is simple and the kids can play all kinds of crazy games. We haven't experimented too much but we have had them work with one person upstairs and one outside.
The only downside is if someone forgets to power one of them off, they can crackle and make noise at random moments, like, say, one in the morning. Which pretty much stinks.
Birthday gift for a 6 year old boy

Again, our grandson was very excited, and right away got tools to put the batteries in. I had noted the packaging had the size and number required and had them ready to put into the walkie talkies. His Dad figured out how to work them, and they started talking right away. I do not know how long the batteries will last, nor if he will continue to use them. But I was pleased that he seemed to like them. Due to not knowing how the toy will hold his attention over time, I gave a 4 star rating.
