Multiple award winner! A microscope kit that focuses on making real science discoveries!
From the second they see the bus-shaped box, they'll be open to what's inside.
Inside are cards and a wide assortment of bright supplies. Kids really enjoy the control of pulling their own cards, picking their experiment - and following they cleverly illustrated instructions. Really, they do.
Kids simply pull a card and off they go. Young Scientists make slides of water droplets, plant parts, textile fibers, all kinds of paper, crystals, and much, much more! In the process, they learn about the history of the microscope, explore the different parts of a microscope, and discover how to use a microscope.
For the sake of your child's thinking mind, the cards are outstanding. A science kit should encourage children to think and ask questions. This one does. Right on target with the National Standards for Science Education.

As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.
NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 5 years of age.
The instructional cards are perfect for my six year old. Though she wanted to dive right into the pre-prepared slides, the cards keep her engaged and learning. The microscope isn't great quality--would be willing to pay more for the set if it was.
All in all, a perfect exploratory set.
Great for a future scientist!

My four and a half year old wont put it down since he received it! He loves gathering his "specimens" for his slides. It's a great second microscope. He has a more elementary model he received last Christmas.
