As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.
NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 6 years of age.
Identified Special Needs Challenges: Autism
"It is a great toy for both fine and gross motor skills. Pulling apart the tube requires finger and arm strength."
Identified Special Needs Challenges: Developmental Delay,
Sensory Integration Disorder,
Speech & Language Delay
"We used the toy to help build motor skills. The child would pull open by himself and then with a partner on one end. We used fun verbal cues to get him excited..puuullllllll or puuuusssshhhh. At first he could not pull the toy open or push it back together. Now he can. It is one of his favorite toys at therapy. He breaks out in a smile every time he sees it. The noise it makes when opening and closing is fun for him too. Great toy!"
Review of Slinky Pop-Toob

I drive a special needs school bus and googled autistic toys then found Fat Brain Toys. The kids have different abilities and I thought I would try these slinky pop toobs to help ocupy some of the kids on the ride to school and the ride home. Rarely do I pick a winner but this is truly a winner for all functioning levels on my bus. They make a little noise when extended but this is music to me knowing the kids have somethig to do. I have kids that just hold and bend to kids that really test the strength of the material it's made of. WInner for the school bus and me.
I bought this product as a party favor for my son's first birthday party. It was a hit with the 12 month olds, as well as with the 3 and 4 year olds. As a pediatric occupational therapist, this was one of my favorite toys to use during my sessions as well. Uses are only limited by your imagination. Great for bilateral coordination, cause and effect, communication (we use it like a telephone).
fun, fun and cheap

My jgrandchildren love these toobs. They play in the pool with them and dance with them and make noises with them!! We had a bunch and after about 2 years of play they started to crack so that is why I bought more. They come in all different colors and produce a lot of creative fun.
Some alternate spelling variations of this product:
slinky pop toobs, pop toobs, pop tube,
