Put the needle on and listen close - A classic playtime melody is about to commence!
Since its first introduction in 1971, the Fisher-Price Music Box Record Player has brought music to children's ears for generations. Now your children can enjoy the melodious fun, too!
Place one of the five double sided records onto the turntable, wind it up, and set the "needle" onto the record. A classic "music box" rendition of ten timeless melodies immediately bursts through the air!
Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill, London Bridge, Camptown Races, Children's Marching Song, and more - Every record brings more dancing, more play, and more smiles!
Then, once your children are all tuckered out from singing and dancing, the records store conveniently inside the record player for easy clean-up.
There's even a carrying handle for taking musical fun with you on the go!
Just like the 1971 version in appearance, except with a few changes to match the safer standards of contemporary playtime, the Fisher Price Classic Record Player brings a blast from the past to the brand new ears of today.

As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.
NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 2 years of age.
Review of Fisher Price Classic Toy - Record Player

My product does not work. I put in batteries (fresh), wound it up. Nothing produced sound. What shall I do now?
25 years ago my kids loved this. I wanted my granddau. to enjoy it as well. Can you send another? Must I send this bum one back?

The reissue is worse than the original
It's nice to see this classic toy come back, but we were disappointed in a couple of ways. The arm is very difficult for a small child to lift; our 4-year-old has gotten decent at it, but the 2-year-old doesn't stand a chance. The wind-up knob is so stiff it actually requires an adult! Also, we were disappointed to see that the record no longer has the actual bumps of the notes on it, which means we can't indicate to the children how the bumps on the record are translated into pitches (and it also means we can't use a 3D printer to create our own records). It's very durable, and the songs are well-arranged and play clearly. But each change that Fisher Price made from the original resulted in a worse product than the original, which is a shame.
This toy brings back memories and works just fine. I don't agree with other reviews that complain about it needing batteries. The batteries aren't an issue with me at all. The only semi-complaint I have is that the arm of the record player is rather difficult for a small child to move, and the wind up button is hard also. But I think that with continued use these items will become looser and move user friendly. Better to be a bit stiff in the beginning than too loose and falling apart. My grand-daughter, age 4, enjoys dancing to the music she knows and loves.
