Bugs - here I come and I have the Critter Catcher with me! I am going to suck you up safely and inspect you.
Place the motor generated vacuum over the bug and press the vacuum switch. It automatically sucks the bugs up. Once the bugs are in the viewing chamber, remove it and close the cap. The lid of the viewing chamber is magnified for close inspection of your accomplishments.

As one of the top online toy retailers, we have access to unprecendented quantities of product review data. One of the key ways that we use this data is by associating our products to the specific ages and genders of the kids who are playing with them. Whereas most retailers must rely upon manufacturer suggested ages (i.e. 3+), we take actual customer usage and share it with you here so that you can choose the perfect toy or game.
But how does this help me? You can use these graphs as a general measure of it's appropriateness for a given age and gender. While this information is generally accurate, it should not be used as an absolute answer. For instance, many dinosaur toys are purchased for boys, however, that doesn't mean that it's inappropriate for a girl who happens to like dinosaurs.
NOTE: The orange color in the charts above indicate ages that are LESS than the manufacturer suggested age. Please purchase at your discretion if your child is younger than 5 years of age.
I have a couple of granddaughters that were frightened of any kind of bug. Bought this to show them the bugs can be interesting and non-threatening if given a good long safe look. This little vacuum seems to be doing the trick.
Product review of National Geographic Critter Catcher Bug Vac

The vacuum could be a bit more powerful, and the catch tube must be removed and the magnifying glass closed giving a potential for lost subject matter.
We gave one to a 4 year old at a summer camp and many of the counselors wanted to know where they could buy one. Sounds like they had entertainment on rainy days in mind.
The other was given to a 5 1/2 year old and he played with it till bedtime.
I purchased the bug vac not as a toy but to get bugs out of the house without harming them. There are much cheaper bug vacs on the market but they do harm to the bugs. I've had the chance to use it once, it did the job perfectly. The only constructive criticism I have is that the "on/off" switch should state the on/off position, which it doesn't.
